About Six Degrees
We are Six Degrees, a non-profit organisation, initially founded by Podium Productions.
Run by Muslim youth, for Muslim youth – we are passionate about mental health and its intersection with our identities and faith as young Muslims in Australia.
Who We Are
We are young Muslims determined to achieve something beneficial and great for young Muslims in our community.
Our purpose stems from our passion to contribute towards improving our youths’ mental health outcomes.

Our Origins and Progress
How Six Degrees Got Started
2020
A group of young Muslims in Melbourne recognised the growing mental health challenges within our community, especially among the youth. After numerous discussions, we realised the urgent need for a dedicated response to support mental wellbeing.
2021
In January 2021, Six Degrees was officially launched online as a Muslim youth mental health initiative. We engaged in ongoing discussions, consultations, and research to develop a program aimed at improving mental health outcomes for young Muslims.
2022
We launched our first mental health support program, Helping Hands, and began offering online psychoeducation on the role of dua in mental well-being. We also hosted a community panel on neurodiversity and identity and conducted workshops on loneliness and companionship at local university Islamic societies.

Our Purpose and Approach
We aim to reach all young Muslims in the community who may need help and guide them to the support they require.
Our Vision
A world where all Muslims are empowered to achieve sound mental health and wellbeing – rooted in Islamic knowledge and values.
Our Mission
Providing targeted, evidence-based psycho-education and mental health literacy to the Muslim community grounded in Islamic knowledge.
Bridging the gap in accessibility between Muslim youth and mental health services.
Collaborating with communities and existing services to improve mental health and wellbeing.
Our Values
At Six Degrees, our work is rooted in Islamic principles. As Muslim youth serving our peers and the wider community, we uphold the values of authenticity, faith, accessibility, reflexivity, accountability, and knowledge. These values guide every project we deliver, ensuring we make a meaningful impact aligned with our beliefs and community needs.
What We Do at Six Degrees
Helping Hands is our number one project. We also carry out research within our Muslim community, consult with experts and review literature to build a better understanding of mental health that is anchored by our Islamic creed.
