What Just Happened? (Post-Election Debrief) with Yassir Morsi

May 4 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

With the federal election taking place just one day before our Wellbeing Fair, this session offers a timely space to process what the results mean for us as Muslim youth.

Dr. Yassir Morsi invites us to look beyond the surface of electoral politics and reflect on how systems framed as empowering can also uphold harm, marginalisation, and colonial power.

This is a space to sit with the emotional and psychological weight of political participation, to name the discomfort, question what agency really means, and explore how we protect our wellbeing in systems never built for us.

About Dr Yassir Morsi

Dr. Yassir Morsi is a lecturer, writer, and registered provisional psychologist working in a school setting. His work explores the political experiences of Muslims in Western societies, with a focus on race, religion, imperialism, and impacts of colonial systems.

As a lecturer at La Trobe University, he brings sharp insight into how power, identity, and belonging are shaped in postcolonial contexts.
